The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking for public input regarding the draft Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreational Plan (SCORP).
The SCORP gives the DNR an idea of the supply and demand for outdoor recreation in Wisconsin.
This draft provides an analysis of potential barriers preventing Wisconsinites from using outdoor recreational areas and motivations behind using spaces such as parks, trails, and beaches.
States are required to complete SCORPs every five years to be eligible to participate in the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
This is a state assistance program that was enacted to strengthen the health and vitality of the United States.
If you would like to have a say in the future plans of outdoor recreation in the state, including here in Manitowoc and other local communities, you can submit comments online at dnr.wisconsin.wi.
Comments, questions, and concerns relating to the draft of the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan must be submitted by December 15th.
