The Two Rivers Public School District is encouraging parents to speak with their children after the passing of 7-year-old Jacob Baer.
His body was recovered from the West Twin River in Two Rivers after the Wisconsin DNR found him in an area of five to six feet of water.
Two Rivers Public Schools Superintendent Diane Johnson says the loss will raise many emotions, concerns, and questions, especially for their students.
Each school will have counselors available for any student who needs help or assistance after the loss, especially at Koenig Elementary School during the day.
If children ask, Johnson says it’s essential for parents to listen to them and answer questions honestly.
She finishes her statements saying the district is “saddened by the loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child as you need.”
TR Police remind parents to ensure their child is careful around waterways, especially if they have thin ice.
