The City of Sheboygan has secured funding for projects preserving the state of its shoreline and waterways.
The City has announced they have been included in just under $3 million in funding from the National Coastal Resilience Fund. Sheboygan will receive a portion of the $2.98 million to support shoreline resilience projects along Lake Michigan.
These projects will be aimed at combating coastal flooding, erosion, and environmental degradation.
They will also enhance waterfront access, restore fish and wildlife habitats, while also improving water quality.
After being awarded the funding, Mayor Ryan Sorenson said, “These grant funds will help us move forward and implement our erosion control plan. This funding is a testament to the power of collaboration among cities to build resilience against the growing impacts of climate change.”
Sheboygan is one of eight communities receiving grant funding across the Midwest, including communities in Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, and others.
