It will be a busy day tomorrow at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum.
Two annual events will be held at the museum tomorrow (December 7th).
One will get folks in the holiday spirit, while the other will help us remember “The day which will live in infamy.”
Maritime Museum Communications Director Emily Shedal explained on the WCUB Breakfast Club that Christmas Tree Ship Day will recognize the history of the Rouse Simmons, also known as “The Christmas Tree Ship.”
The day begins at 10:00 a.m., and a special guest will arrive at 10:30 a.m.
“Santa Claus, of course, will be joining us,” she said. “He’ll be arriving on the Susie-Q Fish tug right outside the museum.”
Shedal says Wisconsin Maritime Archaeologist Tamra Thomsen will tell the story of the Rouse Simmons at 1:00 pm.
To remember the Attack on Pearl Harbor, which happened on December 7th, 1941, the USS Cobia’s whistle will blow at 11:48 am to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Shedal says the Christmas Tree Ship Day also includes “Some shipwreck activities and ornament crafts going on as well.”
The event also includes hot chocolate, cider, and a limited bar. More information is available online at wisconsinmaritime.org.
