A former restaurant chain co-founded by a Green Bay Packers legend is set to make a comeback.
According to a press release, the once-popular Mexican restaurant chain Chi-Chi’s will once again be opening locations next year.
Chi-Chi’s was co-founded in 1975 by Marno McDermott and Packers Hall of Fame wide receiver Max McGee, however, the last Chi-Chi’s location closed its doors in 2004.
McDermott’s son Michael was granted the rights to use the Chi-Chi’s name on restaurants following a deal made with Hormel Foods who own the trademarks.
Michael has said he hopes to keep his father’s legacy alive by bringing the classic Chi-Chi’s restaurant experience to guests with a more modern influence.
A timeline for the openings or locations of stores is not available at this time.
