Even with the arrival of the cold weather, the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve continues to offer outdoor recreation opportunities.
This winter, they will be hosting 1.25-mile candlelit trail hikes, which will begin on December 27th.
Those participating will be able to walk or snowshoe on an illuminated stretch of trail through the woods at the preserve.
Registration for the illuminated trail hikes is required, and registered individuals or groups may arrive anytime between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.
These candlelit hikes are a leashed dog-friendly event; however, dogs are not permitted in this area of the park during other times.
Participation will cost $5 per person, and those aged two years or younger are free.
Additionally, snowshoe rentals will also be available for $5 a person.
Four candlelit hikes will be available in January, and two will be available in February.
Registration tickets can be purchased online at browncountywi.gov.
