The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is once again looking to expand the state’s fishing community.
The DNR has announced that it is now accepting grant applications for the Angler Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation grant program, also known as the Angler R3 program.
This program supports the Wisconsin fishing community by funding angler education for people of all ages. Past recipients include school programs, fly fishing classes for women and veterans, and community recreation centers.
A total of $30,000 is available, made possible by the federal Sport Fish Restoration fund, which is generated from the taxes paid on fishing equipment and motorboat fuel.
Grant cycles are for two years and become available approximately one year after an application is submitted.
The deadline to apply will be at 11:59 p.m. on February 18th of next year.
More information on the Angler R3 grant program and application materials can be found online at dnr.wisconsin.gov.
