The body of a missing fisherman in Kewaunee County has been found and identified.
Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Deputies announced that they were called for a welfare check yesterday (December 9th) for 65-year-old David J. Mastalir after the fisherman’s brother called 911.
Mastalir hadn’t returned home since the night before. Sheriff’s deputies found Mastalir’s vehicle and fishing equipment near the Kewaunee River, and then at 10:04 am, and then his body was pulled from the water.
He was an avid fisherman and frequently went to various waters of Lake Michigan and the Kewaunee River to fish.
Kewaunee and Luxemburg Firefighters assisted Kewaunee County Sheriffs, as well as the Door County Dive Team and the Wisconsin DNR.
