Another candidate has announced they will be running for Mayor in Sheboygan.
City Alderman John Belanger has announced he has thrown his hat into the ring for next year’s election.
Belanger is currently the District Two Alder, representing wards three and four.
In his announcement, Belanger said he feels the City’s image has been adversely affected by “financial missteps, an ever-increasing array of lawsuits, and a lack of cohesive planning.”
If elected, Belanger promises to focus on city improvements related to homelessness, housing shortages, transparency, city planning, and economic development.
Belanger’s vision, “Development by Design—Not by Default,” aims to create sustainable progress while honoring Sheboygan’s heritage.
He has been a Sheboygan resident for over 30 years and has served as the Public Works and Building Use Committees Chairman.
Furthermore, Alderman Belanger has said, “Together, we can embrace challenges, find solutions, and build a city where every resident feels proud to call this city home.”
Currently, the lone opposing candidate is incumbent Mayor Ryan Sorenson.
