The first red bulb has appeared for the Keep the Wreath Green program after a fire in Fond du Lac.
Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue was called to the 700 block of Martin Avenue yesterday (December 16th) just after 1:30 a.m.
Initial reports claimed garbage cans were on fire outside a home. Arriving fire crews found two garbage containers on fire, which extended to the home and damaged siding and utilities.
The fire was quickly extinguished within five minutes, and no fire extension was reported inside the home.
No injuries were reported,d and the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
This marks the first fire in Fond du Lac since the beginning of the Keep the Wreath Green program.
This program aims to keep Fond du Lac residents fire-safe during the holidays.
The program began on Thanksgiving and runs through the new year.
Each time a fire is reported in the city, a green bulb is replaced with a red one on the wreaths outside the city’s three fire stations.
