Lakeland University has been named the recipient of a grant for student entrepreneurs.
The university has announced that it received a $5,000 grant from the Kohler Foundation for the LU Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (LUCIE).
At Lakeland, LUCIE helps student startups overcome the financial barriers that go along with launching a business.
The grant will allow LUCIE to set up a fund that will cover startup expenses and aid students when putting in their first orders.
The grant dollars are already in use as they have helped a student purchase equipment and supplies needed to enable the production of their products for their very first order.
The grant will also complement the university’s effort to feature student products in Lakeland’s official on-campus apparel store.
