A man is facing charges after fleeing the scene of a crash on Manitowoc’s Calumet Avenue.
The Manitowoc Police Department was called to the intersection of Calumet and South 26th Street just before 10:00 Friday morning (December 20th) on a reported hit and run.
The vehicle involved was found a short distance away with “disabling damage”; however, the driver had fled the scene.
The registered owner was later contacted and claimed to have no knowledge of the incident.
The man’s mother told a different story, noting that her son had called her earlier in the day, asking to be picked up from a gas station close to the crash site.
He allegedly told her that he was in an accident and that he was behind the wheel.
The 33-year-old man eventually admitted his involvement and was arrested on charges of Hit and Run, Obstructing, and four counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
