Attorneys for the man charged in the death of Elijah Vue need more time to look through evidence and reports.
A scheduling conference was held for 40-year-old Jesse Vang this morning (March 13th), although he did not appear.
His attorneys say that there are over 7,000 pages of police reports alone and asked for more time to look over them. Judge Anthony Lambrecht set another scheduling date for June 20th.
Vang is facing charges in Elijah’s death after the toddler’s remains were found in the Town of Two Rivers last year on private property.
A criminal complaint says Vang and Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, were having the toddler come to Two Rivers to “learn how to be a man” and to “correct Elijah’s bad behavior.”
The complaint also alleges that Vang physically and emotionally tortured Elijah before his death, although it’s been ruled a “homicide by unspecified means.”
Vang faces charges of physical abuse of a child, causing death, hiding a corpse, obstruction, and child neglect.
Baur is due back in court in June for a status conference as she faces charges in Elijah’s death.
