New York business man Phil Carlucci has invested $300,000 to renovate the Manitowoc Lighthouse. Carlucci says those renovations should be finished in time for a 100th birthday celebration & ribbon cutting during the annual Subfest celebration the weekend of July 13th. The iconic lighthouse, which he purchased from the U.S. Coast Guard for $30,000 seven years ago, had been abandoned for several decades & was the target of vandals in recent years. But now, work crews have been busy in recent months replacing windows, re-doing floors and cleaning the building inside and out to show visitors the craftsmanship involved in building the lighthouse. Carlucci has said he wants to open the building to the public for special events or tours in the future.
