Mary J. Swoboda, age 90, formerly of Reedsville, passed away early Thursday morning, November 22, 2018 at West Haven Assisted Living, Brillion, with her loving family at her side.
The former Mary Jane Menchal was born on March 30, 1928, in Manitowoc County, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Sauer) Menchal. Mary graduated with the class of 1946 from De Pere East High School. She worked for Mirro for 12 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Brillion and the Reedsville Senior Citizens. Mary enjoyed dancing, sporting events, playing cards, bingo and reading.
She is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-law: Charles J. Swoboda, Green Bay; Robert G. (Debbie) Swoboda, FL; Jay (Jennifer) Swoboda, NE; two daughters and two sons-in-law: Beth M. (Jim) Loppnow, Wayside; Barbara (Gerry) Giese, Brillion; five grandchildren: John (Abby) Giese; Missy Loppnow; Lucas Giese; Chloe Swoboda; Alex Swoboda; one great-grandson: Logan Loppnow, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Mary Menchal; one grandson: Matthew Loppnow; one daughter-in-law: Nancy Swoboda; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Edward (Ivy) Menchal; Joe (Mildred) Menchal; two sisters and two brothers-in-law: Viola (Ellis) Kohls; Catherine (Ray) Rebechek.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Holy Family Parish, 1100 West Ryan Street, Brillion. The Rev. Tom Pomeroy will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Reedsville. Relatives and friends may call on Monday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
