Donald Beeckman, age 84, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Donald was born on November 22, 1934 in Manitowoc. He was the son of the late John and Anita Groelle Beeckman. Donald attended Lincoln High School and graduated with the class of 1954. He then became employed with Lake to Lake Dairy followed with employment at the Manitowoc Public School District as a custodian at Lincoln High School and then the head custodian at Stangel Elementary School from where he retired. On April 25, 1964 he married Diane E. Gesell at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Donald was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ. He volunteered at the Manitowoc Health and Rehabilitation Center with the Angel Association making popcorn and running the greenhouse at the center also.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Diane: three children: Faye Beeckman, Carlsbad, CA; Lee and Tom Beeckman both of Manitowoc; one granddaughter: Giselle; one sister: Joanne Parsley, Kansas City, KA; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Anita Boeckman; one son in infancy: Brian; thirteen brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer. Entombment of the cremated remains will follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. Relatives and friends may call at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the memorial service there will be a luncheon at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
