David A. Pekarek, age 70, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life following his courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by his family on Friday, January 25, 2019 at his residence.
Dave was born on September 11, 1948 in Kewaunee to the late Donald and Joan (Kalcik) Pekarek. He graduated from Mishicot High School with the class of 1966. On October 22, 1966, Dave married Mary Novak at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Dave had worked at Eck Industries for 47 years until his retirement in 2014. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, enjoyed listening to old country music, going up north to his camper and fishing, playing sheepshead, and above all enjoyed spending his time with family and friends.
Survivors include Dave’s wife of 52 years, Mary; three children, Mark (Michelle) Pekarek, Two Rivers; Jeffrey (Adria) Pekarek, Manitowoc; and Kari (Chad) Daffner, Two Rivers; six grandchildren, Shawna (Jarrin) Dennis, Austin and Dylan Pekarek, Alex, Tyler and Cameron Daffner; three great granddaughters, Jocelyn, Gemma, and Ivy Dennis; brother, Dan Pekarek, Philippines; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law to include: Sylvan (Ginger) Novak, Allen (Barbara) Novak, Roger (Sandy) Novak, Barbara (John) Taddy, Brenda (Don) Bartels; and Linda Pekarek; best friends, Howie and Bev Corbisier and their daughter, Tammy; also other relatives and friends. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Joan Pekarek; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Bernice Novak; brother, Donald Pekarek Jr.; and his beloved dog, Dakota.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. The family will greet relatives and friends at the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. Following the memorial service, a dinner for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the funeral home.
