A Manitowoc man was taken into police custody Friday morning after he reportedly damaged a pickup truck and the door to a home in the 700 block of North 10th Street. When police arrived on the scene, they noted that the mirrors had been broken off of the truck, and had what appeared to be shoe marks along the side. The top half of the back door to the residence was also separated from the bottom. Officers determined that Jared G. Smith was responsible, and arrested him at his home. It was also reported that Smith had fired a gun into the air at the scene. Police found a handgun in his possession when he was arrested, but no casings were found at the scene. Smith is facing charges of disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and endangering safety by use of dangerous weapon.
