On July 10, 2017, at approximately 1:35pm, a bicyclist was crossing Memorial Dr. from an easterly direction on Lilac Dr. when he was struck by a southbound motorcyclist on Memorial Dr.
The motorcyclist, a 20 year old Valders man, suffered minor injuries, while the bicyclist, a 75 year old Manitowoc man, suffered potential life threatening injuries, and was ultimately transported to a hospital in Green Bay for treatment. Both cyclists had been wearing helmets.
Both the motorcycle and bicycle sustained significant damage.
The accident investigation, which included eye-witness accounts, revealed the bicyclist apparently violated the stop sign on Lilac Dr. at Memorial Dr. before crossing the intersection, and therefore he was cited accordingly.
The Manitowoc Police Department is requesting anyone who may have witnessed this accident to call 920-686-6551 and provide details of their observations.
