Yesterday afternoon, a ship struck and damaged the Ray Nitschke Main Street Bridge in Green Bay at around 3:45. Eye witnesses say the ship, a bulk carrier, was attempting to travel through the open draw bridge, and began to drift, striking the dock and bridge, capsizing a boat in the process. The Green Bay Police and U.S. Coast Guard were on the scene to investigate. The bridge was closed to traffic and remained open while crews inspected it, and reopened it at around 6:45 PM. No one was injured in the incident.
