Bail Set for Manitowoc Man

Bail was set at $1000 cash for a 53- year- old Manitowoc man arrested Wednesday on methamphetamine distribution charges. Lt. Dave Remiker of the Manitowoc County Metro Drug Unit says Benny R. Wilhelm was taken into custody after investigators conducted a search warrant on his property. Remiker says they had been investigating a residence in the 1900 block of Madison Street related to drug trafficking.  It was determined that numerous individuals were purchasing various narcotics including methamphetamine at that location. Law enforcement had contact with individuals in the vicinity of Madison Street the last several weeks possessing meth admitting purchasing the drugs there. A search warrant was executed on a garage at the property with investigators locating items indicative of drug use and distribution and Wilhelm was taken into custody.  Remiker adds that Manitowoc County Child Protective Services was contacted to investigate potential “drug endangered children.” Wilhelm remains in the county jail on a probation hold and his initial appearance is scheduled for Monday afternoon at 2:30.
