The biggest news at Monday’s Packers’ stockholders meeting may have been a healthier general manager. Sixty-four-year-old Ted Thompson looked somewhat weary during the N-F-L Draft in late April, after months of scouting and meetings about who to pick. But during the football organization’s time off in the past month, Thompson appeared more relaxed as he spoke to about seven-thousand fans at Monday’s Packer annual meeting at Lambeau Field. Team president Mark Murphy says he believes Thompson is “energized,” and he showed more of his personality and sense of humor to the fans Monday than he normally does. Thompson is in his 13th year as Green Bay’s G-M — he’ll turn 65 during this season’s playoffs in mid January — and there’s been speculation that he could retire after his current contract expires after next year’s draft.
