Reports: Brewers Agree To Trade For Hot Reliever

The Brewers have agreed to a trade to get veteran reliever Anthony Swarzak, who’s having a career year with the Chicago White Sox. Media reports say the Sox confirmed the deal but Milwaukee has not — apparently because Chicago wants to review medical records on the player they would get from the Brewers, Triple “A” outfielder Ryan Cordell. He’s been out since June 26th with a back injury, but he’s rated as Milwaukee’s 17th best prospect by M-L-B Pipeline with a .284 batting average for Colorado Springs. The 31-year-old Swarzak is a right hander with career highs of a two-point-two-three E-R-A, almost ten strikeouts every nine innings, and one-point-oh-three-four walks and hits per inning pitched — and he got his first career save Monday against the Cubs. Swarzak is expected to bolster a Milwaukee bullpen that has the Majors’ 18th worst E-R-A.
