On 07-30-17 at 7:30 PM, Officers were called to the 2900 block of Michigan Ave. for a single vehicle, roll-over accident. Upon arrival, Officers located a blue Acura on its roof with two occupants still inside the vehicle. The driver, a 17-year-old Manitowoc teen, and his passenger, a 17-year-old Manitowoc teen, were found suspended upside down by their seatbelts. The driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle, but the passenger had to be assisted by Manitowoc Fire Department personnel through the use of the Jaws of Life. The driver was uninjured and the passenger suffered minor cuts and scrapes. The driver admitted to speeding on Michigan Ave., where he lost control of his vehicle on a curve, causing it to go sideways and rolling several times.
The driver was cited for Reckless Driving Causing Injury and released. Police do not believe that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the accident.
