An Arkansas man is being held on a $50,000 bond in Brown County and is facing charges for sexually assaulting an infant girl. Derek Gates was visiting Green Bay for work, and was staying in a hotel on E. Mason Street with his girlfriend and her infant child. The child woke the mother, who saw Gates feeding her. The following morning, the mother saw that the infant had suffered vaginal lacerations and bruising. Gates, who is not the biological father of the child, was taken into police custody, while the child was taken to the hospital. Gates is expected to appear in court next week.
