Former Wisconsin track star Evan Jager takes third in the three-thousand meter steeplechase at the world track meet in London on Tuesday. Jager led for most of the race before Conseslus Kipruto of Kenya picked up the pace in the final 300 meters to win the event. Kenya natives have won every steeplechase event at the Olympic and world meets since 1987, and the 28-year-old Jager was considered the best hope for ending that string. He finished one minute and 33 seconds behind Kipruto, and Jager said he was disappointed with his time of 8:15.53.
