Former Wolves’ GM Newton Named Bucks’ Assistant GM

Former Minnesota Timberwolves’ general manager Milt Newton has been named the assistant G-M of the Milwaukee Bucks. Newton — one of several new staffers announced Wednesday — replaces Justin Zanek, who left for the Utah Jazz after Jon Horst was picked in June as Milwaukee’s next G-M. Newton led Minnesota’s front office for three years when the team traded Kevin Love to Cleveland and got two top draft choices who became N-B-A rookies of the year in 2015 and ’16 — Andrew Wiggins and Karl Anthony Towns. Other new Bucks’ personnel include strategy director David Mincberg, basketball operations chief Tony Bollier, and former Phoenix player and head coach Frank Johnson as an assistant to Bucks’ coach Jason Kidd. Milwaukee also lost vice president of player development Craig Robinson to a similar post with the New York Knicks.
