Staffers and customers escape injury after a fire heavily damaged a restaurant and small hotel in the Door County tourist village of Egg Harbor. It started about eleven a-m Sunday as the Shipwrecked Brew Pub was opening for the day, and paramedics helped a number of firefighters who got dehydrated. Restaurant marketing director Beth Levendusky tells the Green Bay Press Gazette that an electrical problem may have caused the fire, although officials gave no word — and she saw the roof collapse with heavy damage to the second and third floors but light damage to the first floor where some historic items could be saved. Shipwrecked is in Egg Harbor’s tourist center — the building dates back to 1882 — and it had tunnels that were reportedly hiding spots for Chicago gangster Al Capone — and those tunnels were later closed.
