The Green Bay Packers have added their third free agent defensive player in the last three days, as they signed lineman Quinton Dial from San Francisco. Dial is a fifth year pro who started 26 games for the 49ers the past two seasons, but he was let go after San Francisco switched from a 3-4 defense to a 4-3. He’s expected to provide depth at the nose tackle spot, and the Packers cut defensive tackle Christian Ringo to make room for him. Dial joins his former 49er teammate Ahmad Brooks as Green Bay’s newest free agent signers on defense along with Atlanta’s Chris Odom — and Dial is the seventh free agent that G-M Ted Thompson has taken from another team this year. The Packers start practicing today (Wednesday) for their regular season opener on Sunday at home against the Seattle Seahawks.
