It was only last Friday when much of Wisconsin had temperatures in the 90s, with the heat index in the low 100s. Those seem like a distant memory this (Thursday) morning, as the mercury fell to 35 degrees in Sparta and Merrill at six a-m. It was drizzling at New Richmond in far western Wisconsin, but it was dry elsewhere — and it’s supposed to stay dry at least through the weekend. The National Weather Service says we’ll have highs in the 60s to around 70 today (Thursday) — cooler readings in the 50s and 60s tomorrow (Friday) — and a slight warmup for the weekend.
