The Superior Police Department says a tower at the Husky Refinery was at risk of falling and workers were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Crews were working the tower Thursday when they heard a pop and noted a defect in the tower’s structural integrity. Officers say there was no risk of fire, explosion, or release of any chemical and the assessment is ongoing.
An explosion at the site in April 2018 injured 36 people and forced the evacuation of most of the city of Superior.
