Margaret C. “Marge” (Wachowski) Sorensen, age 91, lifelong resident of Two Rivers, died peacefully Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Manitowoc Health & Rehabilitation Center, with her family at her side.
Marge was born in Two Rivers on September 27, 1928 to John and Margaret (Ott) Jacquette. She graduated from Washington High School in 1949 and furthered her education at a Nurses Training School in Kenosha and Milwaukee, where she earned her LPN Degree. Over the years, Marge worked as a neonatal nurse; a LPN at the Manitowoc Health Care Center, and as a home care nurse. On November 10, 1951, she was united in marriage to Raymond “Butch” Wachowski at St. Luke’s Catholic Church. The couple was blessed with five children, and after just 18 years, Butch preceded her in death on October 1st, 1969. She later married James Sorensen on September 7, 1974 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. In addition to nursing, Marge was the proprietor of the Sport Bar in Two Rivers for many years. There she made many life-long friends and enjoyed serving the many customers that came in. She enjoyed playing bingo, volunteering at the Two Rivers Community House, doing word searches, going to church, and polka music. She also enjoyed walking (the 3 bridges); traveling (especially the many trips to Las Vegas); and above all, loved spending time with her family and loved ones. Marge will be forever remembered for having a “Big Heart”. She cared for & helped many, many people over the years, always there to cook meals, prepare dinners, or take care of anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Sorensen; her five children: Ann (Dennis) DeWitt, Marjean Wachowski, Jerry (Jodie) Wachowski, Mark (Barb) Wachowski, and Scott (Kim) Wachowski; her grandchildren: Dennis (Alina) DeWitt, Jr., Amanda DeWitt (Billy Schultz), Sara DeWitt (Scott Krueger), Amy (Keith) Van Rooy; Jenny (John) Dietrich, Lindsay (Tony) Wiesner; Nic Wachowski, Michelle Wachowski (special friend, Brian Cherney), Kurt (Jolene) Scherer; Gabriel Wachowski; Cory (Sarah) Wachowski, Adam (Nicole) Wachowski, Amber Wachowski, Calli Wachowski (fiance, Shawn Shillcox), Caitlin Wachowski (special friend, Riley Garbe), and Allie Wachowski; and her many loving great-grandchildren: Cody, Vannia, Connor, Brielle, Axel, Juliahna, Shanika, Morgan, Brynn, Lilly, Ashlyn, Brantley, Devin, Kameron, Karson, Karter, Brynlee, Brayden, and Harper. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Butch; one granddaughter, Dawn Holschbach; her only brother, Raymond “Raymie” Jacquette; and a half-sister, Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. Two Rivers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Beaudry, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Friday evening (TONIGHT) from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m., and Saturday morning from 8:30 until 10:15 a.m.
