Holy Family Memorial has adopted a “no visitor” policy, with few exceptions, until further notice. According to President and CEO Brett Norell, this is to “ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff amid the COVID 19 pandemic”.
Exceptions will be allowed for two caregivers per pediatric patient, two partner and midwife/doula of a laboring mother and one each for the emotional wellbeing of a patient, emergency department companion, outpatient area companion-in-person for discharge instructions and a professional assigned to assist with procedures.
The number of visitors for end-of-life situations will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, all visitors who meet exclusion criteria must pass a health screening at the entrance. Norell adds “Family members and visitors play an important role in a patient’s healing process. This was a difficult decision but one we feel is critically important to the wellbeing of our community during this time.”
HFM will continue monitoring the situation and update this policy as needed. Anyone with questions about this policy should contact their loved one’s healthcare provider or the hospital unit they are on.
