Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels is “generally pleased with how city residents have cooperated with local-state and federal mandates to help combat the COVID 19 pandemic.
He has one concern in regard to helping those less fortunate in these trying times. “There are individuals in our community, elderly, young children, who require certain things,” the Mayor told SeehaferNews.com. “If people my age are hoarding essential items, that’s not helping out the community…Understand, that there are individuals who are less fortunate than you are. Those are the individuals we should be caring for the most at this time.”
Nickels says that he’s grateful citizens are supporting the local business community. He said “Here at City Hall, our employees, I give them credit, they created a daily list of local restaurants that they want to order delivery or take out. Every single day they are going to do that over lunch to help out these places that need it most. I encourage other businesses to do that. Any place that’s shuttered right now, they need our help. If we can do the small deed of ordering lunch from them, it will go a very long way to get them through this.”
A reminder that an Emergency Declaration remains in effect for Manitowoc through April 6th.
