With all the fear, and uncertainty in the world, three women from Mishicot have taken it upon themselves to spread the love.
You may have seen hearts taped on people’s windows throughout town. That is due to the work by Tonya Hawley, and Holly and Kelly Jacquart, who created the “Spread the Love” group on Facebook.
We spoke with Tonya, who explained the group came to be because they wanted to “share some happiness with everybody.” They saw different ideas in some other Facebook groups, and they went ahead and created their own.
The idea of the group is for people to put hearts, and other positive symbols in their windows, and every Sunday, group members are asked to add something new to their window collage and share it with the group.
Tonya said their goal is to “spread love, help people cope with COVID-19, and support people that need it in our community.”
Kelly told SeehaferNews.com “We thought we were gonna try and keep it local… and it kinda blew up a little more than we anticipated.” When we conducted the interview, the total number of members was just shy of 10,000.
Kelly also said that not only is it a great way to show others that they are not alone, but it is a great project to keep the kids entertained. Her children have enjoyed creating the art for the window, but they also enjoy riding around in the car looking at other people’s artwork as well.
Tonya got emotional as she spoke about how many people their Facebook group has reached. She said “I’m so inspired by inspiring other people. To think that we touched so many people, in such a short time, it’s such an overwhelming feeling. I was in the Dollar Store yesterday, and I heard a man behind me (while staying the safe distance of six feet away) talking about the Spreading the Love group.”
You can find the group by searching on Facebook for “Spread the Love”.
