MLB Playoffs: Indians Eliminated, Cubs On The Ropes

One of last year’s World Series teams will not go back, and the other is on the ropes. Cleveland was eliminated from the postseason Wednesday night, losing at home to the Yankees 5-2 in the deciding Game Five of their American League Division Series. Last year’s champs, the Chicago Cubs, were pushed to a Game Five of their N-L-D-S after losing Wednesday night at home to Washington 5-0. Only one former Milwaukee Brewer figured in either outcome. New York starter C-C Sabathia struck out nine in four and a third innings without the decision. Didi Gregorious homered twice for the Yanks, who will play Houston in the American League title series. Stephen Strasburg came back from flu like symptoms to strike out 12 for the Nationals, who will play their deciding Game Five with the Cubs tonight (Thursday) in Washington.
