Maritime Metro Transit will resume service with limitations on Monday, May 4. Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels said, “We are only going to be running routes 1, 2, and 3 on an hourly schedule. Some of those are a half-hour schedule. We’re going to be doing that from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.”
This will service all of Two Rivers and the main routes of Manitowoc and cover 90 percent of Medical offices, shopping, and several workplaces.
Nickels lists other guidelines implemented for the restart, “We’re going to have a limit of 10 people on the bus at a time. Individuals will actually have to enter through the rear of the bus. That’s to protect our drivers. We’re also going to have seating that sits people 6 feet away from each other when they’re on the bus.”
All riders must have a required destination and “no joyriders” will be allowed. No fares will be charged and the MMT lobby will remain closed until further notice.
