The Vikings have moved into first place in the N-F-C North Division with their 23-10 home win against Green Bay. Brett Hundley threw three interceptions in his first meaningful game in three years as the Packers’ quarterback, replacing the injured Aaron Rodgers. Hundley went 18 of 33 for 157 yards and his first N-F-L touchdown pass — while Minnesota Q-B Case Keenum went 24 of 38 for 239 yards, one score, and one I-N-T. Jerick McKinnon scored both Minnesota touchdowns on a 27 yard catch and a three yard run — and Harrison Smith led the Viking defense with one and a half sacks, one interception, and two pass breakups. Davante Adams had Green Bay’s only T-D, a 14 yarder from Hundley, and the Packers had a season low 227 yards as the Green Bay and Minnesota are now tied at 4-2 with the Vikes holding the tiebreaker and Detroit falling to third at 3-3 after their 52-38 loss at New Orleans.
Tests will be performed to determine if Aaron Rodgers will need surgery on his broken right collarbone from Sunday’s Green Bay loss at Minnesota. The Packers’ Q-B did not have an operation in 2013 when he broke his left collarbone and missed seven games — but reports say this one could be worse because it involved his throwing shoulder. The Packers say Rodgers may be out for the season after he was hit hard early by Vikings’ linebacker Anthony Barr, who went out later with a concussion — and it happened right after Rodgers made a rollout pass to Martellus Bennett who dropped the throw. Afterward, coach Mike McCarthy said third year backup Brett Hundley would start with practice squad Q-B Joe Callahan as the backup — and there was lots of speculation about Green Bay hitting the market to avoid a lost season. The Pack’s starting tackles both played together for the first time this season, but both left with injuries — Bryan Bulaga with a concussion and David Bahktiari aggravating his bad hamstring as guard Lane Taylor left with ankle and knee issues, and corner Quintin Rollins went out with an injured ankle.
