Kites Over Lake Michigan 2020 will go on as planned over the Labor Day Weekend but at a different venue.
Event organizer Chow Chung of Unique Flying Objects in Two Rivers took to Facebook to announce that the 15th Annual Event that draws thousands of visitors to the ‘Cool City’ will still take place on September 5th and 6th. This year the event will be held at Two Rivers High School instead of Neshotah Beach. Chung says that the event is being moved due to high Lake Michigan water levels and very little beach.
The Two Rivers businessman says it’s no secret that a lot of businesses have been affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic, “We are sensitive to this and therefore, we will not be actively seeking any sponsorship for this year. The festival will be entirely self-funded and every sponsor from last year will be listed as a sponsor for this year.”
Chung adds, “However, we will not turn down any financial help given voluntarily.”
In his social media post Chung gave recognition to those who have helped make this year’s event possible, “A tremendous debt of gratitude goes to Lisa Quistorf, District Administrator of Two Rivers Public School District and the Two Rivers School Board. Also involved in this decision were Adam Rohrer, Director of Building and Grounds, and Brian Gallagher, Athletic Director. Of course, our committee members once again stepped up and did everything possible to make this happen.”
