Manitowoc County saw an additional 7 positive cases of COVID-19 over the weekend. Emergency Services Director Travis Waack says 3 came in on Saturday and 4 came in on Sunday. As of 2:30 p.m. on Monday, there have been an additional 3 cases reported bringing the county total up to 73.
Waack explains that over 5,000 negative test results have come in,”Many people have mentioned that the increase in cases must be due to an increase in testing. That’s not actually true here in Manitowoc County. Our testing numbers have remained fairly consistent throughout this increase. We are truly seeing an increase in the prevalence of the virus in the community. It’s not just that we’re testing more.”
The Emergency Services Director says we’re seeing people testing positive for the virus because they went out in groups when it was spread at parties and gatherings of that nature. He added we really want to be careful with those types of activities so we can bring our case numbers back down.
Travis Waack’s reports on COVID-19 are aired three times a week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 8:05 on WOMT and womtradio.com.
