Confirmed positive cases of COVID 19 have increased nationwide and Manitowoc County is no exception.
Emergency Management Director Travis Waack believes this correlates to the lifting of Governor Tony Evers’ “Safer At Home Order” a little more than a month ago. He said, “I think just generally speaking, people are getting more relaxed. That fear has gone away in a lot of cases for a lot of people. COVID has kind of become normal, and so some of the precautions that people have been taking, they are either just getting sort of tired and fatigued of taking them, or maybe just a little less cautious across the board.”
Waack tells SeehaferNews.com that “we’ve been waiting a long time to go out and enjoy summer activities in Wisconsin,” but “enjoy them with some common sense. If you are going to have a gathering, limit the number of people there, meet outside, have family groups sit six feet away from one another, if you can wear a mask, skip the meals where there is a lot of touching of the same utensils, that sort of thing.”
The local Safety official adds “We want people to enjoy their summer- but we don’t want to see a big spike in COVID that might hinder our ability to enjoy it in the long run.”
