U-S Senator Tammy Baldwin says she doesn’t know why Majority Leader Senator Mitch McConnell waited until this week to introduce the G-O-P’s latest COVID-19 relief plan.
The Madison Democrat told reporters during a virtual event Wednesday that the package doesn’t adequately address any of the priorities she believes would help people struggling during the pandemic and ensuing economic crisis.
Senate Republicans want to reduce a federal extension of unemployment benefits from an additional $600 per week to $200 through the end of September.
The U-I extension is set to run out at the end of the month without congressional intervention.
