The Green Bay Packers have released utility offensive lineman Don Barclay and brought back rookie receiver Max McCaffrey. Barclay, a Packer since 2012, was on injured reserve with an ankle injury from Training Camp — and he was eligible to return to practice last week but did not. The Packers appear satisfied with Justin McCray, who has filled in at both tackle spots and left guard — and Lucas Patrick, who started a game at left guard. The Packers’ offensive line has healed nicely, and they’ll likely have all five starters back for their next game November sixth at home against Detroit — plus they’ll have capable backups in case of more injuries. McCaffrey, a popular receiver at Training Camp, was signed to the Packers’ practice squad after Jacksonville let him go Monday with one catch in five games.
