There is some good news and bad news when it comes to COVID-19 over the weekend.
First the bad news, as 155 new cases of COVID-19 were reported by the County Health Department, with 67 reported on Friday (a new single day record), 63 on Saturday, and 25 on Sunday. This brings the pandemic total up to 1,430 cases, a rise of 860 in the past month.
Now for the good news. The number of recoveries is beginning to rise, as 50 people were shifted from the active column into the recovered column over the weekend. As of yesterday’s, report, Manitowoc County has 838 active cases, and 587 people have fully recovered. Also, the number of negative tests is rising. 427 tests came back negative over the weekend, bringing that number up to 15,003.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, 125 cases were reported on Friday, with 81 of them coming from the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution. The KMCI now has a total of 445 cases, while the entire county has confirmed 2,171 cases throughout the duration of the pandemic.
Also, over the weekend, 44 new recoveries, and one new death was reported, along with 503 negative tests. This brings those totals up to 238 active cases, 1,469 recoveries, 19 deaths, and 40,191 negative test results.
