As we reported on Friday, no new COVID-19 updates were issued by the Manitowoc County Health Department over the weekend. .
This is due to an upgrade to the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System (WEDSS), which is used by Counties across the state to simplify reporting. Reporting is expected to go back to normal by tomorrow.
We will still be hearing from Emergency Services Director Travis Waack today for his Update at 8:05 AM on 107.9 FM WOMT and on 97.1 FM WCUB.
That being said, the County did surpass the 2,000 mark on Friday after the addition of 64 new cases. 2,004 total cases have been reported throughout the pandemic, meaning 6.8% of the population has been confirmed to have caught the coronavirus.
Also in Friday’s report were a new high in recoveries, 30 to be exact, and 159 negative tests. This leaves the pandemic totals at 1,234 active cases, 763 recoveries, 16,496 negative tests and 7 deaths attributed to the virus.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, they ceased reporting over the weekend quite some time ago, so they were not affected by the WEDSS update.
On Friday, they reported 207 new cases, 64 of which came out of the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution. 818 of the 3,464 total cases are inmates at the KMCI.
Also, 44 new recoveries and 958 negative tests were reported, meaning the pandemic totals are now at 666 active cases, 1,960 recoveries, 45,634 negative tests, and 20 deaths linked to the virus.
