Amid all the negative news surrounding the COVID-19 numbers locally, there are some good trends emerging as well.
While there were 60 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department yesterday, there were also 24 recoveries, a number which has been rising over the past several weeks. While the number of new cases does still outweigh the recoveries, it would appear that we are starting to trend in the right direction.
Also, it appears that more and more people are getting tested, as the number of total tests has been near or above 200 for the past several days as well. 154 negative tests were reported yesterday, bringing that total up to 19,210 since the start of the pandemic. The other totals are 2,696 confirmed cases, 1,623 of which remain active, 1,063 recoveries, and 10 deaths linked to the virus.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported 388 new cases over the weekend, with only two of them coming out of the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution. A total of 858 inmates at the KMCI have now contracted the virus.
The number of patients listed as recovered actually went down in their report yesterday, due to a change is reporting techniques. The Division of Public Health now follows the same guidelines as Manitowoc County, which were put together by the State Health Department.
The pandemic totals now sit at 4,590 cases, 1,464 of which remain active, 2,244 recoveries, 29,616 negative tests, and 24 deaths linked to the virus.
