Following a day of much better COVID-19 numbers, the Manitowoc County Health Department has reported that five people died yesterday due to the virus.
As has been their procedure throughout the pandemic, the Health Department will not be releasing any personal information about the individuals, including their names, ages, or where they lived. These deaths nearly tripled the pandemic total up to 16 deaths which are blamed on the virus.
Also in yesterday’s report were 79 new cases, 36 recoveries, and 103 negative tests. As it has been about a month since the first major spike in cases, we do expect the number of recoveries to begin to rise as well. A total of 2,867 cases have been confirmed since the start of the pandemic in March, with 1,671 of those cases remaining active. 1,180 people have recovered, while 19,507 negative tests have come back.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported that three people died there as well, bringing their death toll up to 28. 127 new cases were also reported, and for a third consecutive day, none of them came out of the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution.
Also, 43 more people were listed as recovered, and 175 more negative tests came back. This brings their pandemic totals up to 4,929 cases, 1,643 of which remain active, 2,401 recoveries and 30,088 negative tests.
