There is some good news and bad news to report regarding the COVID-19 numbers over the weekend.
First on the positive side, a total of 158 more people were added to the recovered column in Manitowoc County, with 42 reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department on Friday, 49 on Saturday, and 67 on Sunday, which is a new single day record. This brings that pandemic total up to 1,338 recoveries.
Also, on a positive note, no new deaths were reported, leaving that total at 16.
Now for the bad news. A total of 191 new cases were reported over the weekend, including 84 on Friday, 35 on Saturday, and 72 on Sunday. Those numbers bring the pandemic long totals up to 3,058 cases, 1,704 of which remain active, 19,907 negative test results.
The 54220 zip code, which entails the City of Manitowoc, remains the most effected, accounting for 46.7%, followed by Two Rivers, which accounts for 13.5% and Reedsville which has accounted 7.1% of all cases.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, 81 new cases were reported by the Division of Public Health on Friday, none of which came out of the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution. That marked the 4th consecutive day with no new cases coming out of the prison, which accounts for 858 of all cases.
Also, one more person died due to complications brought on by COVID. That individual was in the 80+ year old age group.
Also, 53 new recoveries were added, along with 172 negative tests. This brings their pandemic totals up to 5,010 cases, 1,669 of which remain active, 2,454 recoveries, 29 deaths, and 30,260 negative tests.
