Wisconsin public health officials report more than 40% of the coronavirus tests given came back positive Wednesday.
Although no new records were set, 62 people died of COVID-19 related causes, a number topped only once.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports 7,048 new cases and the seven-day average is almost 6,000.
Doctors say 11 people were being treated at the alternate care facility at the state fairgrounds, almost double the six patients who were there Tuesday.
A total of 441 COVID-19 patients are in Wisconsin intensive care units.
