Other than one bad statistic reaching a milestone over the weekend, it would appear that Manitowoc County is trending in the right direction when it comes to COVID-19.
First for the bad news, as one more death was confirmed over the weekend, raising the death toll to 50. That death was reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department on Saturday. This individual was from the City of Manitowoc, and was under the age of 75.
That being said, the number of recoveries significantly outweighed the number of new cases. 125 new cases were confirmed, with 66 coming in on Friday, 35 on Saturday, and 24 on Sunday, while 201 people recovered. 66 of those recoveries were reported on Friday, 80 on Saturday, and 55 on Sunday.
This brings the pandemic totals to 5,776 cases, 1,384 of which remain active, and 4,342 people have recovered.
In more positive news, the number of people hospitalized in the 10 hospitals in the Northeast Region fell by 13 to 101, while the percentage of ICU beds in use fell 8 percentage points to 73%.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, as of Friday’s report by the Division of Public Health, 10,683 people have caught the virus since the start of the pandemic, 1,358 of those cases remain active, and 9,242 people have recovered.
Also, 83 people have died, and 39,016 tests have come back negative.
